Cassie Nova Sheds Some Light on Orlando
Comedic genius and Rose Room show director Cassie Nova heels up to MC the Orlando benefit drag extravaganza on July 17th, and took some time to talk truth about what the world needs now.
(DSD) A couple of weeks have gone by since the shooting at Pulse. What do you think could be done to prevent this from happening again in a different LGBT establishment?
(CassieNova) Stay vigilant, if you see something…say something. Our safety is everyone’s responsibility.
(DSD) What do you hope comes out of this tragedy?
(CassieNova) I hope it brings our community even closer. We are stronger together.
(DSD) What does the July 17th Orlando benefit at Rose Room mean to you?
(CassieNova) The Orlando benefit will be an opportunity for us to feel like we are doing something in a time when so many of us feel helpless. Thoughts and prayers are one thing but it will be nice to have a sense of purpose in all the madness.
(DSD) What does community mean to you?
(CassieNova) Community to me means family. As a gay person, my blood family has not always been there for me, but my chosen family has. My community is my tribe. My safe haven.
We should support one another because sometimes it seems that, each other, is all we have.
