Jingle Bells and Deck the Balls with our 2017 Drag Holiday Gift Guide.
No matter the occasion, we queens love to paint. That’s a given. A bar mitzvah – we’re taking every opportunity to turn up the family drama and paint the town (and our lips) red. Aunt Linda’s 60th birthday party – it’s our sissy show-off moment, and nothing says “welcome to the last chapter of your life” like 10 lbs. of gloss.
But the Christmas season is when we release our internal drag makeup beast and holiday get-togethers become an all out battle of the painted-est. It’s party after party after party, and our thankful giddy hearts are singing “Oh Holy Night” following a night of not-so-holy shenanigans.
To get you inspired and ready to rumble, we’ve hand selected our favorites this season to keep you – and yours – in the holiday spirit.
Christmas is nothing if not a glitter wonderland. When normally a micro-thin drawing of glitter liner would suffice, the holidays calls for a paint roller. Brow to brow, temple to toosh, we seek sparkle. As of late, we’ve taken a liking to Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics: Cosmetic Glitters. Available in 22 colors ranging from TECHNOPAGAN (a blackened violet with blue shift) to GHOST LIGHT (opalescent pink with green duochrome), these specialty glitters are also 100% vegan and cruelty-free. Think of the animals. $9.00 USD
We all like to feel über girly, and the perfect lipstick (or three) tucked away in your clutch screams “I’m a woman…ish!” What’s even better? Layering those lipsticks – one on top of the other – endlessly. Sheer enough to pick up the hint of what’s beneath, Lipstick Queen recently released its holiday lip trio, Sugar, Spice, and All Things Nice. A wintery white frost, golden glow, and starry night shimmering black are perfect to add the much-needed drama for every sassy party-goer diva. $45.00 USD
Let’s be real for a moment dolls. Lashes are a girl’s best friend. We wear them – a lot of them – regardless of where we are going. A quick trip to the grocery store will require a simple layer of two sets, where happy hour with our sisters commands us to triple up and get those batters batting. We can’t think of a better gift for a squirelflriend than a set (or six) of former Shahs of Sunset star Lilly Ghalichi’s Luxury Collection Lashes. While the Persian princess offers a variety of styles, our favorite is Caviar. $13.99 USD
How DIVA-licious would it be to sashay around the holidays glowing in your own personal snow globe? We’ve found the next best thing: New York based Milk Makeup’s Holographic Stick is the highlighter of the season. Available in Supernova (a purple sheen with holographic effects) and Mars (a toned-down golden peach luster), these sticks are formulated with Milk Melt technology and are loaded with meteorite powder and twilight-like pearls for an out-of-this-world glam glow. Best applied with a synthetic brush (might we suggest MAC’s 170 Synthetic Rounded Slant Brush) $28.00 USD

With all those back-to-back jet-setter parties, whose got time to carry around a suitcase full of drag essentials and your go-to makeup favorites? We’ve found every queen’s perfect solution. While we are normally not a fan of all-in-one face palettes, Morphe rocked our Christmas stockings with their holiday-only 39A “Dare To Create” eyeshadow palette. From lashes to brows, shadows to lips, this kit comes complete with 39 super pigmented shades that compliments every sister-girls’ spectrum. $32.00 USD
So now that we’ve done the legwork for all your holiday shopping, you can get back to the things that are really important – cocktails.
