Following a weekend of queer festivities, ride share service Lyft will fund marriage licenses in Dallas County on Monday, June 3, for couples of all races, genders and sexual orientations. From 8:00 a.m to 10:00 a.m, Lyft will cover the $81.00 application fee for couples applying at the Dallas County Probate Court No. 1 in Downtown Dallas.
“Lyft is proud to not only stand with the LGBTQ+ community this Pride month, but also make a tangible pledge to show our commitment to love of all kinds,” said Aaron Fox, General Manager for Lyft Texas in a press release. “Through our celebration of marriage, we hope to help Dallas continue to build an even more inclusive community for people of all backgrounds.”
For couples unable to find transportation to the Dallas County Clerk’s office, Lyft will knock off $10 for a ride to or from the office for riders using promo code DFWPRIDE19.
Since its inception in 2012, Lyft has been a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, having actively sponsored Pride parades and marches, and having made sizable donations to the Human Rights Campaign. Lyft has also implemented a Gender Inclusion and Affirmation Policy, to maximize safety and comfort for transgender and gender non-conforming partners and employees.
